Well a dedicated sound card can also be handy if you damaged your build in sound somehow. Another profi of a dedicated soundcard can be that the amp build in might be better suited for your high Ohmed studio headphones which anables louder sound. Over all they are quality wise the same.īut picking up a dedicated soundcard can be useful, If you can profit from more channel sound with a real surround setup you can plug them all in their specific port. External soundcards for the most part come with some extra software which can give you a "better"(or better pre installed sound profiles, people on teamspeak may say you sound more clear but thats a software thing or the most part and could be done on the build in sound, too) controll, let you gimp different stats like more base, may come with profiles with childish distortion sounds and so on. Today are most onboard sounds on motherboards pretty good.
